Resto-Vie's Final Chapter Print

I've been in the kitchen, met some staff, helped when I could. I can not forget how amazed I was before Christmas when I watch Christmas Turkey Dinners being prepared for hundreds of people in their/our neighborhood.

Another organization I admire the West Island Community Shares had to pull funding this past week and it's a blow the Kitchen couldn't survive. The city of Pierrefonds/Roxboro apparantly tried with a $10,000 funding initiative, but it was to litttle to late. I have seen things written about this situation that I found a little unfair. I know how hard it is for charities to raise money these days. There are an amazing number of deserving causes and a limited number of financial angels. I am not as disappointed in the directors past or present, as I am with the West Island at large. The deficeit I have heard about is $80,000 a year, and that can't be more than $1 per household just here on the West Island, Imagine ?

I will remember the valiant attempt made by Resto-vie to feed Kids every day. Perhaps somebody with better knowledge of marketing such an initiative will find a way to continue where Resto-vie had to finish off. I for one will have more sense of urgency the next time somebody asks me to help feed the hungry kids right here on the West Island, I hope we all do.
